Tincture of the Month: Ursa Major Elixir

Invite your intuition to guide you to empowerment. Let Mama Bear soothe your throat and free your voice!

A few tablespoons of Ursa Major, a tasty herbal syrup blend, will soothe a sore throat, loosen chest congestion, and boost your immune system. The blend stars Osha Root, a soothing, antibacterial, expectorant, also known as bear root. Indigenous tribes have long treasured the bear medicines, a class of medicinal roots that both resemble bears in their hairy brown appearance, and are eaten by bears as medicinal fuel. On a spiritual level, bear medicines are prized for their ability to enhance intuition and clarity. This blend would pair up nicely with your favorite cup of tea before bed, helping you to connect with your dream world.

Amanda’s interest in herbalism began at an early age but it wouldn’t be until 2010, when she moved to the Pacific Northwest, that her relationship with medicinal plants blossomed. The move from the east coast to the west coast would be more than a change of scenery, it brought her closer towards the wonderful world of herbalism. Ambitious to start learning she found a golden opportunity working at Portland’s first all organic herbal supplier, The Herb Shoppe. Her experience was even more fulfilling than she had hoped for, feeling invigorated Amanda knew this was a step in the right direction.
