Skin and Liver Health with Herbalist Amanda Furbee

Using herbs to cleanse your liver and blood has been used traditionally all over the world for many eons. And once you cleanse your liver you begin to cleanse your skin! Our skin is our largest organ of the body and the liver is the body’s filtration system. The liver helps to break down and rid the body of unwanted toxins and fats. It is a telltale sign how our liver is filtering based on what our skin looks like.

By giving our liver a little love with some gentle cleansing it can begin to reflect outwardly on our skin. Many folks will use herbs to purify the liver to help with acne, eczema, psoriasis and rashes. The skin is over exposed to all sorts of elements daily. This creates all sorts of concerns requiring many needed ways to take care of our skin.

I find myself constantly wondering how to better take care of my skin from inside to out. In the process of understanding what is “good” for my skin, I started to strip out all the products that had questionable ingredients and find natural replacements for my daily skin care routine.  This month we have co-created our new skin care line and can’t wait for you to give it a try.

Amanda Furbee

Amanda’s interest in herbalism began at an early age but it wouldn’t be until 2010, when she moved to the Pacific Northwest, that her relationship with medicinal plants blossomed. The move from the east coast to the west coast would be more than a change of scenery, it brought her closer towards the wonderful world of herbalism. Ambitious to start learning she found a golden opportunity working at Portland’s first all organic herbal supplier, The Herb Shoppe. Her experience was even more fulfilling than she had hoped for, feeling invigorated Amanda knew this was a step in the right direction.
