Boundaries with Herbalist Amanda Furbee

Boundaries! They are everywhere in our communities, in our work, in our culture. They are passed on to us from our parents and grandparents, friends and partners, to list a few. Boundaries can stop us in our tracks, or create growth in our lives. What about your own personal boundaries? It feels as if there is an awareness to these personal boundaries that are awakening around our culture.  Do you feel that tingle in the air? Curious to dive in and know more?

Do you ever feel that universal stop sign emerge from yourself? You know the one that says, “No way should you do that, or go there,” or that felt really uncomfortable and it bothers you for several days? Those are your personal boundaries that are sending you a message. I think that they come from our intuition, and an unraveling of those personal boundaries that need our attention.  As we grow into personal awareness of what we really need in ourselves, these boundaries show up in many forms, and are begging us to grow into our best version of ourselves. These boundaries are helping enlighten us and amplifying our truth and path. There tends to be an immediate shift in consciousness and doors seem to just be opening up everywhere you look, when we stop and pause long enough to feel those universal stop signs.

So what do we do when these stop signs appear?  There are always at least two options. One is to ignore it and learn the hard lesson that it attached. Often times we go, “Oooooh how did I end up here again!” The other option is to listen to that stop sign, and choose another path. I almost always find that when I choose another option, it enhances personal growth verses hindering it and creating bad cycle. Sometimes the best road is the one untraveled, and you may be in for a wild ride, but when you come out on the other side, you will understand yourself and your needs that much better. This opens up the Throat Chakra to speak your truth and detach from a negative boundary that’s been prohibiting you from stepping into your full potential.

There are many tools that can help guide you on these boundary pushing journeys. In the most recent, I have been exploring emotional coding with LaDeene at Small Healthy Steps. Her method of releasing trapped energy is simple and freeing. I find that healthy outlets like meditation, yoga and walking can help us to ground and focus on the next steps of making turning points in the boundaries that want and need to shift in us. Working with plants in energetic dosages, such as flower essences, can be an excellent catalyst to keeping us heading to our true north. Helping us to heal and expand our capabilities in all directions. If you want to know more about this type of growth, reach out to me for a consultation at info@theherbshoppepharmacy.com. Essential oils are a powerful method to opening up boundaries. Check out our Chakra Essential Oil line if you want to explore opening up energetic blockages associated with certain chakras in the body to release unhealthy boundaries. Here at The Herb Shoppe we have a few practitioners that work with energetic healing: Joon Rose (moonbootsjoon@gmail.com) and Molly Grace. Each having their own special touches to helping you push through boundaries and reconnect.  Whatever methods or tools you choose to start with, I encourage you to explore many options. You will be amazed at what you find works for you.

Amanda Furbee

Amanda’s interest in herbalism began at an early age but it wouldn’t be until 2010, when she moved to the Pacific Northwest, that her relationship with medicinal plants blossomed. The move from the east coast to the west coast would be more than a change of scenery, it brought her closer towards the wonderful world of herbalism. Ambitious to start learning she found a golden opportunity working at Portland’s first all organic herbal supplier, The Herb Shoppe. Her experience was even more fulfilling than she had hoped for, feeling invigorated Amanda knew this was a step in the right direction.
