With more than 50 million Americans being diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, it is time to take a deeper look into what Auto-Immune conditions represent. Autoimmunity is defined as the body attacking its own healthy tissues. There are over 80 named illnesses that fall into the category. Some of the more common conditions are MS, Lupus, Graves Disease, Vitilago, Celiac, Hashimoto, Arthritis & Psoriasis. Autoimmunity can attack any part of the body, but is most common in women and often begins in early adulthood. It can appear as inflammation in the body, low-grade fevers, remaining chronically tired and/or as certain skin conditions. As you can see, autoimmunity appears to be an umbrella term for many conditions. While modern medicine will put a band-aid on the condition, traditional routes go a little deeper into the core of the issue. Here are some of the important factors to consider when asking who to treat yourself, your family, and your clients who experience symptoms of autoimmunity issues: 1. Check your food source. Find what food works best for you. Check out the Anti-Inflammatory diet. Much of the time, autoimmune conditions can be reversed with a particular diet which eliminates the intolerance. 2. Exercise & Movement. Keep your body from being stagnant and you will notice other things, such as emotional blockages, moving through that could also be holding the body back. Sometimes it is a push for someone with Autoimmunity to exercise. In these time it is best to trust that your body needs downtime to heal and replenish for the next day. This can be one of the most healing practices to get into. 4. Vitamins & Minerals. Pack your body with the vital nutrients it needs through whole foods, fish oils & supplements such as THS Daily Greens Powder or Capsule blend of: Cholrella, Spirulina, Nettle, Kelp, Eleuthero, and especially Vitamins B and D! 5. De-stress! The number one killer in this world is stress. Find your balance. Utilize plant allies such as passionflower, skullcap, valerian, lemonbalm or kava can help to reduce daily stress. 6. Triggers. Look for any patterns and figure out what causes your body to flare up. Is it your liver, adrenal fatigue, inflammation? Perhaps try keeping a journal to help you find your source and relief. Everyday people are remembering that they have control of their own health.
